    newbie here... can u assign a different ringtone for each contact? same with txt message ?

    Calls yes, Texts, not by default. You'd need to use a different text app like Textra.

    Yes, u can. With default contacts app. Open a contact and edit. Scroll in this page and on bottom u can assign a ringtone for calls and another (or the same ) for SMS.

    ive sorted the ringtones my putting a memory card in, the SMS options are only whats on the phone, no option to add from memory card.

    Sure, just go to menu>settings>sounds and notifications. You'll find the defaults for phone, messages etc there.
