Help Contact Search Engine Issue

I recently moved all of my data from a Palm Centro. I have ~ 2,000 contacts. I cannot get the search engine to recognize material embedded withint the contact. For example, if I want to search for 'Physical Therapy' when it is embedded within many contact names or in the 'Notes', etc., it will not find the contact. Any fixes/ search strategies/ contact wording - I've tried everything. Help!
