Help Contacts lost after merging with google

Hello everyone I have been using an android phone and i opted to "merge with google " option so that i can save my contacts on google .But i have been into a strange problem since then . I apparently lost many of the contacts which were there in phone and sim card. I have searched on gmail too ,but i couldn't find them there as well. Kindly help me as soon as possible . I am in trouble please help. I will be thankful to you!

Yes why not .. I am having Samsung galaxy s duos cell phone.
