copy & paste from within a text message

Ive had a look in the forum & only question ive seen is about copy & paste from a web page.

Is it possible to copy & paste text from a text message either to another text message or say a number from within a text to a new contact?

Not sure about chompsms.

Using the native message app the only way to copypasta is to forward the message, which will take you to the edit screen and you can copypasta till your heart's content.

Again, not sure about chomp, but you can do this in handcent (i think superior to chomp) by long pressing on a message.

Anyway I think best bet is to try long pressing on a message and see if there is a copy option.
