so i got push email for my work to work on my nexus. will push email drain battery? is it basically constantly refreshing? i'm not sure how push works.

Technically, yes it will use a bit more juice.
But, you really won't have any trouble with running out of battery. You can always check by looking at your battery usage.
I use push all the time and don't have any battery issues.

would it be the same if i just had it set to refresh every hr?

i disabled push and my battery life seems better today i will just change it manaul.
