Correcting a word when texting ?

Is it possible to go back to an incorrect word in a text you are writing and highlight it so that the word list appears again which enables to to select an alternate word rather than have to delete the word and retype the correct one.

If you put the cursor in the end of the word, and delete a few letters, the list of word comes up, and you can choose a new one.
Thats what i do....

When entering the word "i" in mid sentence it always comes up with capital "I" as first choice which is very annoying. Is there anyway at all i can make it go lower case "i" instead?

hit the shift key and it goes back to 'i'

im = I'm, youre = you're, theyll = they'll, ive= I've, etc
