Correction: Android 2.2.1 available on KIES

When I plugged in my phone just before I went to work, I saw that there was a new firmware update for Galaxy S. So it must be Gingerbread (I have already Froyo) and i'm going to install right away when i come home!


EDIT: Sorry, read the comments below... It's not Gingerbread but 2.2.1

Firmware =/= OS update. I hate to break it to you, but this isn't Gingerbread. It's probably just small FW tweaks.

Maybe it is 2.2.1 which would be a upgrade from 2.2 but still *Froyo*.

Bummer.. Well beacause Samsung said it would release 2.3 in Q1 2011. Still have to wait then....

I'm still thinking of whether to sell my Galaxy S off and wait for S2 or iPhone 5 and use iPhone 4 till then but looking at i4's washed out screen compared to SAMOLED is ugh.

I just upgraded my Galaxy S to Froyo 2.2.1 and i'm happy to say, for those who didn't yet, it

Has anyone been able to get 2.2.1 in Australia using Kies 2? Or even using the old Kies, I would be happy to uninstall and reinstall the old one if it makes my phone work properly.

Yeah I'm the same as you, in Australia and unable to update to 2.2.1 via Kies which is a real disappointment as I have heard lots of positive things about it...

No 2.2.1 in Australia yet, I check almost every day and leave disappointed everytime. I think our updates are based off the US updates, so when the US is about to get 2.2.1, we will get it (That's what happened with 2.2)

Anyone able to help me out? I'm in the UK and had a message a few months back from vodafone saying 2.2 was available but unable to upgrade through Kies. Still running 2.1update1 and desperate for 2.2 :-(
