Now that it is all but confirmed that Amazon will be pitching their own Android app store to the masses other companies have taken notice, and in response to questioning from the Wall Street Journal Best Buy CEO Brian Dunn said the big box store is open to the idea of entering the mobile apps [...]

Pffff no those idiots don't even know the specs of the products they sell.

ooo that wasnt fair, let me try again...

They don't know anything other than what's written on that little card displayed under the product, so I can just imagine the shoddy ass apps Best Buy would be putting out.

God, I don't care. They can put out all the app stores they want, I don't have to use them. Oh, and just because most Best Buy employees are pretty tech ignorant doesn't mean the people putting thier app store together will be. Although I don't see the point of this all, why not just put thier apps in the Android Market? They will all be BB-themed crap designed to advertise anyways, so who really cares?

You must mean the associates who work there may not be the most informed. Trust me corporate Best Buy has enough cash and clout to hire some great developers. The more market variations we get, the better Android will become. Don't knock it just because you've had a bad experience with the minimum wage worker manning the counter at the local store.

Having worked at best buy for 2.5 yrs I kinda take offense to those comments, on the other hand MutantCheese brings up a good point, they are sound for atleast 10 yrs financially and have tons of market share in CE. Plus they would probably have it pre-installed on their phones they sell to increase their rev

    An app store:
would boost sales (buy this android phone and get 10 dollars of free apps)
increase customer loyalty (Reward Zone Premier Silver Members would get free apps im sure which being one I'm all for)
Add more jobs to the job market
get music to phones for via napster
    ect.

There is really no reason they shouldnt do it, I dont really see a downside
