is it true that the droid will get 'wifi tethering' with the 2.2 update? and i also heard something about OC'ing with 2.2?

    are either of these true?

with root its all true, we don't know what it will do stock (no OC for sure) but it looks like the tethering will be via USB Cable.

oh, i heard all about how 2.2 had wifi hotspotting or something so that you didn't need to use the USB anymore, but that is for other phones?

so does this mean with 2.2 I won't need any apps like PDAnet or EasyTether to tether since it will be built into the update?

Well the rooted 2.2 that I'm running has USB Tether on there, no wireless until I installed the app for it.

But its looking like the answer will be no, you won't need those apps to usb tether in froyo

It all depends on what your carrier allows. As long as the carriers don't block the wifi hotspot, you won't even need to root. Nobody will be able to tell you for sure until the update most likely, unless Verizon comes out and says what they plan on allowing.
