    Vr
    Lag free and minmax

    Edit: rockin the 946!!!!
    And just so you know
I flashed kato's kernel for ctmod
Set it at 825 with smartassv2
    Min 120
And shut the screen off didn't mess with it pretty much all day. At the end of the day ran it hard then was able to bump it to 900 but lost data2sd
Reflashed kk 2.4 and good to go

It's just your cpu. Don't feel bad because you're not the only one that can't run above 800MHz.

From what I understand, computer chip manufacturers don't make individual chips at different speeds, they make a batch of identical chips, they test each one individually to see how it does. Then depending on how it performs, it's sorted out into its different speeds. One chip may run fine at 850mhz, but the next one may only hit 825mhz, even though they were made exactly the same. But they can't sell that many different speeds of chip, so they round them all down to the closest stable performance point (or even lower, depending on supply and demand). Our chips are rated for 800 mhz, yours was probably close to it but still passed. Luck of the draw i suppose.

    My Prevail..
    CM7 Beta5
    Vlotage Control
    katoKern w/sd ext
Min 98 (no wake up lag at all)
    Max 946
I/O scheduler: noop ( best for me. tested all of them. 24hours each w/ heavy use)
CPU Governor: smartassv2 ( also best for me. tested the same way)
Batt. Temp never goes over 34*C
Batt Life; about 15% worse than stock ROM w/ heavy use

    Wife's Prevail
    CM7 Beta5
    Vlotage Control
    katoKern w/sd ext
Min. 400 (had lots of lag and FCs at lower clocks but runs smooth now)
    Max 946
I/O Scheduler: noop seems to be the best but still testing
CPU Governor: ondemand but still testing
Bat Temp: comes in higher than mine at like 36-38 max.
Batt Life. About 20% worse than stock ROM with heavy games and use

    OH,I was! They're both based off Kato's OC'ed kernel.:D

Actually, I use the same settings for CTMod and CM7.;)

  15. I was having trouble with overclocking. So many settings on CPU Master Pro. So, I got
looking around and found a couple lists that explain and breaks down how each scaling setting works. Now knowing what each setting can do, I find it much easier to try out different settings to find a balance between performance and good battery life.

Here is the first one. It is a little older, but does have good insight and pros and cons which I found nice.

    CPU Governors - RootzWiki

Here is an updated one with the newer settings and lots of information for each setting.

CPU Governor List - Android @ MoDaCo

I hope this helps anyone that may be as confused as I was about CPU settings.

    CT Mod 3.5
    Voltage Control
    Min - 320
    Max - 900
    I/O - Deadline
    Governor - Smoothass
These are the settings Bloodawn posted. After trying many setting combinations, this is the only one that gives me zero lag, regardless of what I am doing. Thanks Bloodawn.

I was running the scaling at Lionheart and the GPU control at sio when I ran my last benchmark last night. I'm currently running CM7 Kato Kernel 0.4 sd-ext, Hroark's Adreno update, and a MDPI version of the Black Funk theme from XDA also. I am also currently experimenting with a few build prop tweaks too.

This is how I feel when I'm tweaking my phone and things don't go right, especially figuring out the best overclock settings. LOL!!!!

Don't worry. Dais doesn't have his Prevail any longer. It was stolen.

As for setting it as init.d script. Using Voltage control, open the menu, select the save as boot settings and select the init.d setting. You're done. ;)

I have a Galaxy Prevail and it's rooted. I have the Voltage Control app. I want to know how to use it. The app is very confusing. Can someone tell me how to operate the app?

Well first you need a kernel the will overclock. CTMOd has one already and CM7 has one that can be added.

Once you have the proper kernel, you just open up Voltage control and where it says Max, try turning it up slowly. Most devices will let you overclock to 900MHz while some will even go all the way up tp 946MHz. You can leave the Min set at 300MHZ or try turning it down to 220MHz.

You can also adjust the I/O. I usually set mine to SIO while others use NOOP or DEADLINE. Test them to see which works best for your phone. There are tutorials available in the link that will explain what each setting does.

Check the links in this post:
    http://androidforums.com/4224669-post65.html

After you have set them where you want, make sure you tap the settings and save your changes. You can choose to set them at boot or init. I use int because it sets them when the phone boots up. The set at boot setting will apply the settings after the phone has booted. The init setting is faster.

IF YOU START EXPERIENCING LAG, REBOOTS OR FREEZING, TRY TURNING THE MAX SETTING DOWN. THE PHONE MAY NOT CAN HANDLE THE HIGHER SETTINGS. ;)

All you gotta do is tap the settings menu for the phone. When it pops up it'll give you the option to save as boot settings. Select the option that says " init.d script.
