Help Cruz Reader Screen Unresponsive

I recently was given a Cruz Reader from a friend with the stipulation of "if you can fix it, you can have it." The reader seemed to be frozen, and so I reformatted both sd cards, reinstalled the software, disconnected the battery and pretty did much every other suggestion I could find online. The reader rebooted and seems like the software is fine, but maybe the screen is not working? It boots fine, but stays stuck on the lock screen. To me, it seems like the touch screen is just not responding. I would love to get this thing working, does anyone have any suggestions as to what else I could try?
