Hello everyone this tutorial is only for the Optimus M and I will be showing you how to get custom recovery on your Optimus M first there will be no code because there is a app you can use to do this and it is called FlashImage GUI all you have to do is go here
http://www.joeykrim.com/android/apps/FlashImageGUI.apk and download it and put it on your phone by downloading it to the computer and using the mass storage thing and transfering the APK to somewhere you can get your downloads from.

When you do that you will need the Custom Recovery for the LG Optimus M only and if you try to use this on any other it may mess up your phone and you can get it from recovery-thunderc-m-v1.2.0-GNM.img.zip and this link is from getitnowmarketing so please thank him for this glorious link so when you download that send it to your phone in any directory, back at the Flash Image GUI open it and click on the browse and look for your recovery image that you just downloaded it and make sure you have Recovery Image button checked and then press flash file and it should say that it was successful.

Next you will have to turn off your phone and turn it on by holding these keys: HOME+Volume down+power by doing this your phone should now be in recovery and when your in recovery your have made it very far, you may use the volume buttons (Up and Down) to scroll with the recovery and press MENU to select and BACK to go back and the first thing you wanna do is create a nandroid backup and I am pretty sure you will be able to find this your self by playing with the recovery and just checking stuff out but first you wanna select WIPE and select wipe all user data and it will take a while.

Setup backups by going to Backup/Restore and create a nandroid backup.

Now for the flashing part now you have to go to Flash zip from sdcard and use the volume buttons to look for your ROM and then press select by using the MENU button and you should know that already and then let your ROM be uploaded to your system and it will take a while then it will tell you when its done and you will go to the main menu and press Reboot System Now and your rom should load then.

Thanks for using my tutorial and if you have any questions you are not a noob you are just trying to learn so go ahead and ask questions. sorry if my tutorial has too much words instead of pictures LOL.

Make sure if the recovery doesnt work make sure you hold the combo keys just incase.

For the new link of recovery go to http://www.mediafire.com/?aakz6aupmxbxyk0 but the old one still works

Thanks for using the tutorial created by Ause

    Cyanogen mod Reppard's version

You will need the Cyanogen rom and you will be able to get this from http://dl.dropbox.com/u/22300603/CM7.1-reppard-09202011.zip

When you download this you will save it anywhere and you should save it on your root and that is the first part of your sdcard and not any folders or anything and its the main folder save it there so you can easily get it when you get into recovery and you wont have to go into any folders.

Use HOME+Volume Down+Power to turn your phone on so you may access recovery mode and then when you are in recovery go to Wipe and clear all user data and let that finish and then go to flash zip from sdcard and look for your rom and then if you put the rom on the root of your sdcard then you will have ease finding it so then select the rom and wait for it to complete and then go back to the main menu and press Reboot system now.

Thanks for using the tutorial created by Ause

Please give thanks thank getitnowmarketing and reppard

Good thread. I would add that when doing the reboot into recovery, you need to hold the button combo until it actually goes into recovery. If you release it too early, it'll just boot all the way into the os.

Now, there is a good app on the market that will facilitate in the reboot into recovery (well, several actually, but I use this one). It is called quickboot. This alleviates the need to do the button combo.

Out of over twenty posts in this thread, half of them are childish slap-fighting, and obviously against user guidelines here at Android Forums.

That might be a record. :D

Let's lock the thread. I've removed the ugly stuff. Please, friends, do not jeopardize your membership here at the best forums on the internet by taking up your issues with one another in another thread here.
