So I just got my Nexus a couple days ago and I'm not certain whether the issue lies with Android 2.1, Android in general or my ignorance.

I took an image from my computer and resized it to the dimensions of the Nexus display (800x480) and then I transferred it to the Nexus. The Gallery shows the picture in its full resolution, which looks great. The problem comes when I go into the Menu > More > Set as > Wallpaper. I'm presented with a square box that is wanting to select which portion of the image to use as the wallpaper. I can resize the box, but only so far as the width of the display and the proportions are locked. If I select the image this way, only a portion of the image is used as the wallpaper and it is stretched, which looks horrible. I run into the same situation if I try to set the wallpaper from the desktop/home screen and select from the Gallery.

Hoping someone else has run into this and knows of a way to use the full image as the wallpaper.

I don't actually own the phone but I think the problem lies with the 5 desktops. As you scroll between the 5 desktops, the wallpaper moves as well. So instead of having a wallpaper of the exact resolution of the device, it should be a bit wider I think. You can probably get the right resolution from the wallpapers that come with the phone.

    Hope this helps.

I don't own the phone either, but i believe you have to double the width on the image for the 5 home screens. Try making the image 800x960

Thanks for the tips. I will try widening the image. As for checking the size of the wallpapers already on there, those are stored on the device memory, so I'm not sure how to access them from the computer.

Poboy, this was the issue exactly. I recreated with a resolution of 800x960 and it worked like a charm. It is strange to me that a single desktop shows 4 columns of icons in 480px space, but when you scroll left or right, even though you get another four full columns of icons, it actually only moves the wallpaper 120px. Can't wait until the 2.1 SDK comes out so I can try my hand at making a Live Wallpaper.

I think that's supposed to create a more 3d-type depth visual feeling, I think it looks nice.
