Well it was posted by shabby himself here
For the love of god, IS ANYONE GOING TO TRY THIS?
I would try it but im afraid it might brick my phone and i will have no way to restore it back to stock
Yup so for now you guys need an unbrick guide before you can do anything else to this phone
true dat so we'll just have to wait until someone makes one
lol. I bricked mines by Using the Lg Esteem CWM (touch). It Broke data then Makes the phone a paperweight (Unbootable), So i Ordered a new phone lol.
Do we know of anyone that has experience with unbricking methods.....I think that sammyz dude did it for the motion
Sammyz is mostly LG only....
I'm still working on building this from source (not the automated builder). I'll keep you guys posted. As for unbricking, I'm sure it's easily achievable from QPST. You guys are right; probably not a bad idea to have a guide on this.
hopefully we will be able to run custom roms on this phone soon
Then shortly after, I will make CM10 for you guys
hey guys im way new at this, first time on forum.i have a zte avid 4g and i wanna root it.is this an ez process or am i bitin off more than i can chew.any help will be greatly appreciated.ty
Its easy to if you follow the instructions as how it is
my android browser is actin a little weird when I try to download a file or anything it reverts back to the download page and doesnt let me download is there a way to fix this it lets me download pictures though
Download opera mini browser
I have tried to flash this (and a source build of the non-touch recovery) and keep running into issues.
3 methods that did not work for me:
dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p16 bs=4094
Actually, "dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p16 bs=4094" appears to work and displays proper output, however, the device boots into stock recovery. I've tried in every boot mode, including FTM and have not succeeded.
Edit -> Killah1994: Thanks, by the way, for providing the touch recovery.
What does the stock recovery look like?
Well I tried ...., but it did install correct?... and if it did you can download quick boot and reboot into recovery and see if it works... but dang! LOL at least you didn't get bricked thanks for taking that chance to try it.
so was it a failure or....
No problem! It's pretty difficult to brick this phone while flashing recovery images, provided the modifications are focused on /dev/block/mmcblk0p16
The non-touch recovery that I built from source and the touch recovery you built from the web-based builder appear to properly flash with dd, however, everything reverts back to stock recovery.
I have a hunch that the boot.img replaces it on boot :/ Can you pull that up for me and upload it please?
Pretty much stock ICS recovery.... Stock meaning the original from source recovery... I shall Google something
Your hunch is correct. I'm working on a fix for this.
