New (fixed) CWM for Samsung Transform Ultra

I sought out some experience on this issue so I personally did not build this. The person responsible for building it is utkanos over in the rootzwiki forums. This guy has ported CWM to over 30+ devices and that is why I sought him out.
    So thank him..

    What I did was:
search for some one who could help us
    asked him for his help
    explained what our issues were
provided him with all the files, data dumps, and stuff he needed for building.

If you find an issue about the build and would like to report it, or ask him to make a change, he made a place for that here
All how-to's like installing and such please post here. If you would like to, you can post problems here and I will look into it further and work with utkanos personally

utkanos has uploaded this build source to his github. If you would like to view or download the source it's here

If you would like to make a donation to the developer, you can email him at utkanos@gmail.com

    People we should also thank:

Interdpth For giving us the first clockworkmod, giving us root, for devoting his time and figuring out this very hard device

Bads3ctor for figuring out the problematic issue with rmt_storage and posting his results from testing

Chevanlol360 for testing, reporting, risking his phone, confirming things, and contributing his time.

Loota for testing and allowing me to teamview his computer and do some testing of my own while my TU is at samsung getting unbricked

    Installation Instructions

    Update from previous CWM
    1. download recoveryinstaller.zip to your sdcard
    2. reboot into cwm
    3. select "install zip from sdcard"
    4. select "choose zip from sdcard"
    5. select recoveryinstaller.zip
    6. select "yes"
    when it finishes installing:
    7. select advanced
    8. select reboot recovery
you should be in new cwm now

    1. download the CWM_Odin_pkg.zip
    2. unzip it
    3. Install samsung drivers if you don't have them already
    4. open the Odin.exe in the folder
    5. hit the "OPS" button and select the TransformUltra.ops file from the folder
    6. select the "One Package" Button and select the build7.tar.md5 from the folder
    Should look like this:

    7. now put your phone into download mode (Vol down + camera + power)
    8. plugin your phone and the yellow COM should light up

    Now pay attention here

    9. as soon as you hit start, remove the battery from the phone
    10. wait until Odin finishes and shuts off the phone
    11. put the battery back in the phone and boot strait into recovery
If you miss recovery, pull the battery before it boots and try again. If it does boot all the way into android, it will overwrite cwm with your stock recovery and you will have to flash it again..

    Install Alternative

If you dont have access to a Windows computer, Odin doesn't work, or any other problems, I have another way to do this right from the phone.

I have tested this on three devices and if you follow the directions, it will work everytime...

    From your phone:
    1. download the raw_image..zip
    2. unzip it and move recovery.img to the root of your sdcard ( /sdcard/recovery.img)
    3. download Terminal Emulator from the market if you don't have it already
    4. open Terminal Emulator
    5. run these commands one-by-one:
    Code (Text):
    1. su <hit enter>
    2. dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p13  <hit enter>
It should return with an output of what was moved and what size the file was.
    7. Then type:
    Code (Text):
    1. reboot recovery
Your phone will reboot into the new recovery and you can enjoy like the rest of us.. :D

    Known Issues

    1. E: cant find misc
utkanos has told me that this isn't something to worry about and if we don't have any other isues he will fix easily.

    2. Flashing Kernels
Thanks to psycho4us4 for risking his device for us and chevanlol360 for confirming this and finding the correct script to use

Download mirror to all Files above
note: in Google drive, you have to click "file" then "download" to download it

Thanks so much mav it works great! I stayed in cwm for about a half hour I didn't want to leave lol. That takes care of that bug. So between 2.3.6 with no ciq, & it's new update(Thanks chev!) wifi fixed by the way, & now the CWM that works right(Thanks mav!), I think (dare I say it...) Cyanogen isn't too far away. It just might be a little easier to port now, what do you think? Sorry if my dream came across to bold. No I'm not a developer, but I luv testing all these gr8t things all you guys put out. Thanks again!

    Thanks to You and utkanos.

A special thanks for adding the terminal emulator instructions. Much simpler way of doing things.
Surprised more folks aren't commenting to encourage this in the future.

Well the data dump linux command can be very dangerous if you dont know what you are doing. as instructed above is fine.. the most important thing to know is never push to a partition that is running. eg /system, /data, or /cache while in android. you will be very :( with your results

I'd give it a try but the kernel stuff in the op has me worried. anyone having problems flashing Bob'z kernel?

Im old so learned in dos. I write them out on paper in my own shorthand then enter them in. I understand what the code is doing and where and how things are listed but for now am not exploring anything with this. I don't know nearly enough Linux. My work has always kept me on Win**. So I'll leave it up to you and copy it down nicely.
1 thing that's true with linux or win, this is the proper way to do it.

I already had Bobz installed since i updated to 2.3.6. Im good with my set up so won't need to flash anything soon. My free time has a day it ends and this was the last thing I needed to get done to be up to date and happy.

I'm sure there are a few people testing just to answer the question so we should know soon.

you can "Restore" any kernel you like just fine but if you try to flash "install zip from sdcard" from a zip then the old cwm would brick your device.

restoring is the only method we have been able to do but when building custom roms you need to be able to install from a zip everything you need. you guys don't know how much this hinders development on this device

Just flashed this ...Great Stuff!!! I'm surprised no one has mentioned the button changes (the search button now acts as the enter button). I thought I had messed up something at first.

You need cwm for a linux system? Do you mean you need odin for a linux system?

but I've never tried it so I dunno how it works...

Heimdall does work good. You could just do it like the second post. It's way easier than trying to do it from the computer.

So cwm works better with this but its not fully functional? What version of cwm is this?

Is flashing the kernel still an issue based on scripting commands?
  25. chevanlol360

    chevanlol360 Android Expert

Its fully functional, its the same version just with bug fixes and we believe I fixed the issue of flashing kernels but we have not tested it but your welcome to try and report back to us if your phone lived or not:D
