So I've been playing with CyanogenMod 7 RC0 all morning and it works great! It's very fast, smooth, and stable. Also check out Jeff's version of CM 7 here and here. I think it has his own bug fixes. This is a Release Candidate - which means that there are still a few bugs to be fixed: Not working: New Market Camcorder Light sensor for auto brightness Keyboard lights Data connection is lost after a phone call (toggling airplane mode brings it back) Apps did not automatically restore from the market Things like the accelerometer, sleep animation, and camera work. GPS works! Multitouch rotating in Google Maps works too. Anyway... here's the link: Free File Hosting Made Simple - MediaFire A complete wipe is recommended before installing.
I'm definitely trying this now.....zipping now after adding a few things to it lol....ADWEX, TB, Dual Mount SD and so on lol Set-Up: Running Sapphire's 1100MHz kernel.....125mhz-1100mhz. I prefer the 125mhz since it barely uses battery while sleep. UPDATE: MY APPS RESTORED FOR ME!!!! AUTOMATICALLY AS SOON AS I LOGGED IN!!!NEW Market works for me as well -I think the Samsonite Redraw fix messed up my phone....it kept booting to a black screen. Wiped and reflashed everything is fine.... Installed some MIUI animations....still working great. Looks great in conjunction with the standby animation...
Glad to hear the new market is working. I was probably just too impatient to wait for the apps to restore themselves. Which "new" market version did you use? I believe there is a 2.2.6 and 2.2.7 - I think I tried installing 2.2.7 using ROM Manager.
That's a good question....It might be the 2.2.7, since I took it from Pete's Bugless Beast. He always uses the latest in Gapps....So I would assume so....
I just tried it...pretty nice, but I think I'm gonna wait until RC1 or RC2 before making it my daily driver
Yeah well it's pretty close. I'm not on VZW anymore, but I do use my Droid over Wifi a lot. This thing is pretty stable already. It's obvious it needs work, but it's pretty good for an Alpha build.
If the data connection didn't drop after every phone call, this would be a solid ROM. I'll stick with it and see if Koush uploads anything new tomorrow.
Alright, this is going to be my first GB ROM! Charging up the phone now and will give it a shot soon. I actually don't make too many phone calls so the data problem isn't a huge issue for me.
Anybody figure out how to get the car home icon back? The market says it's installed, but I can't find the icon to start it.
BTW, this is restoring all my apps as I speak. @RonaldRamsay, so Sapphire's kernals work fine with this ROM? Does anyone know if it is indeed overclocked (haven't set up SetCPU yet)? I LOVE the sleep animation, it's pretty "neat".
So Cyanogen just tweeted that official CM7 nightlies will start in a few days... Twitter / cyanogen: @TrevorDuke we'll have nig ...# Hopefully that will include D1 builds for us!
I'll have to find the magnet. I pulled it because I didn't want the app to run all the time, but now we can customize it, so it's not as big a deal.
You might want to try one of those apps that tricks the phone into thinking it's in a dock - I think it's called dockrunner or something like that.
It doesn't.... Good idea though. I did find out you can set what the search searches, that's pretty cool.
I think Jeff's version is still a few steps ahead of the "official" CM7-RC. He eliminated most issues in the 1-7 version, but seemed to have dragged in problems in his 1-8 version. There are 110+ pages of discussions about his ROM on DF, so this is probably the most debated / discussed GB-ROM right now.
Jeff is working extremely hard and his ROM is getting more and more robust every day. Even when he runs into issues he doesn't balk, he continues to forge ahead. not bad for a kid in HS, no less. Not bad at all. I highly recommend that if you're into playing around with GB ROMs that you check his out.
Agreed. It's definitely quite an accomplishment. He is consistently staying ahead of the CM-devs, all by himself and teaching himself as he goes. And yes, he made great strides since it's initial version. If it wasn't for the dropped 3G issue, I might make it my daily ROM, but for now I am sticking with Sourcery
Frankly, i don't make enough phone calls to consider the 3G drop a real issue, so i've been running this rom for a few days now
