I've been using Pete's release of ESE81 (not overclocked) fine for a few weeks now with absolutely no problems. I decided that I finally wanted to try out CyanogenMod and installed ROM Manager, the ClockworkMod Recovery and finally CyanogenMod 188.8.131.52. Yes, I made a backup of Pete's ESE81 first and YES, I cleared DATA & CACHE. I'm using the default 600MHz kernel in CM. Everything works fine with one huge exception... there are huge delays in receiving new email via Gmail and new message with Google Voice. I'll eventually get whatever I'm expecting, but it may take 10 or more minutes. I can go into both the Gmail or GV app and force a refresh and get the email or message. I tested this extensively this morning by switching several times between backups of Pete's ESE81 and CyanogenMod. With Pete's, I would receive Gmail or GV SMS nearly instantly. With Cyanogen... huge delays. Any ideas?
