I am wondering if there is something similar to the Cydia Background Manager application for iOS that can be used on Android devices. I am looking for something that will allow me to force an app that goes to the background to stay in a foreground state like you can do with the Background Manager application.

This is the app I am referring to just in case...

    cydia.saurik.com/package/kr.slak.backgroundmanager

I see that this has been brought up before, but after reading through those threads I didnt see any mention of how to or if its even possible to control how the app is running like you are able to do with the Background Manager app.

My current device is not rooted. As I understand it if I were to root my motorola xoom I would have to do something to the bootloader which would in turn wipe out my apps and what not.

    Thank you.

That looks like a possibility. I was able to find it in the play store from my device as android task manager...I couldnt find android app manager.

If this app will allow me to tell an application to run in a foreground state while its in the background then that will work. I am installing it now to see if it may do just that.

Unless I am missing it this app doesn't seem to have the desired option.

For certain games. I want to be able to switch back and forth between apps, but instead of one particular game going into a background state I want it to continue to run in a foreground state so it will continue to update. That way when I go back to it it will not be forced to contact the server again.

To be precise I want a game to stay in a foreground state while I jump over to the clock and advance the clock 4 hrs. That way when I go back to the game it will think that 4 hrs have passed. When the game goes to a background state and then you switch back to it it has to contact the server again.

Ahh. Understood mate. Hope you find something that does it. I had no idea you could do that with the clock lol :)
