    Hi all.

I currently attempt to keep up with the forum by subscribing to the only sub-forum I currently find of interest, SG2. But while the message links are great for the new threads, the updated threads only have links to the start of the thread. Would it be possible to have the link to the most recent unread post instead? Or is there an easier way to view the unread posts for a particular sub-forum?

Is there not a little down arrow that links to the first unread post? Left of thread title?

You are absolutely right, but that button only shows up on the main thread list, not when you're viewing the first post in the thread as you would be following the link given in the digest.

BUT, I now notice a a link at the top of the first post "View First Unread" just under the "New Reply" button, which I find works as the exact equivalent of the little down arrow.

Why I didn't notice the "View First Read" link before I made this thread is easily explained in part by Murphy's Law and further by many of my younger years spent abusing myself at the local pub :D. I now feel the need to try to prove that I'm really not a newbie when it comes to reading forums, but at this moment I find it hard to convince even myself of that .

Sorry for the (e)noise & thanks for the help.

You're talking about using the favourite forums tool, right?

The button Roze mentioned is available on the digest it's self, where you see a list of updated threads in the SGS2 section, before you go into a thread. Saves you loading page one of a thread before loading the most recent page :)

Me again :). Sorry to be a pain, but just I discovered the site's mobile mode & while I find it great of course there's no last read link :). Brings me back to wishing that was included in the email digest in the first place :).

Being that this is a droid forum.. I... gasp.. Mainly read/ post from my phone.. I get none of these options that any of u are talking about.. If i click on a 2k posts thread it takes me to the last page... I would like to start on page one for any threads i havent read.. Also noticed that threads ive read through will start me on page one... Not a huge deal.. But maybe something ud like to think about for ur phandroid app users??..

Ah, I didn't realise you were talking about the email notifications of new posts ubergrog. That explains things.

So you're using this to subscribe to one section, right? And your list contains all new posts in that section, even if you haven't posted in every thread? There's another way of achieving that which will allow you to see the list of all updated threads in a section, but with the 'view first unread' button on the list.

Try ticking the subforums you subscribe to in this list, which marks them as favourite forums (a favourite forum is distinct from a subscribed forum). Once you do that, you'll see a counter on the front page of the forum, top left, that says 'X unread posts since your last visit'. Clicking on that counter takes you to a list of updated threads in your favourite forums, and every entry in the list has the view first unread button [IMG].

This is doubly useful as the phandroid app from the market supports the same list, and also allows for jumping to the first unread post.

I use the User CP to see replies to threads I have posted in (no matter where they are on the forum) and the favourite forums list as described above to keep track of the sections I follow the most. Very handy :)

Unfortunately the forum has to mark posts over a certain age as read, even if you haven't read them. That would explain why the forum is jumping to near the end when opening extremely long lived threads for the same time. I'm not sure you can really work around that, unfortunately :(

However, long pressing, rather than tapping, on a thread title gives you options as to how to open the thread (jumping to the last page/first page/first unread etc). That might be of some help to you.
