re-format it? if it doesn't format call it quits?
Yeah. MicroSDs are rather cheap now so it won't be too bad to go out and get a new one.
i hate replacing stupid shit that fails
I bought two, in anticipation of a fail at some point. Hasn't happened .. yet.
Look on the bright side. This may be your sign from above that a 16 Gb card should be ordered.
lol i don't use my eris that much. i never even filled the 8gigabyte lol. gigaabyteee now. gigabyte
Don't get a 32GB card, though. Still doesn't play nice.
Get a smaller capacity, higher class card. If you root your phone, you run apps2SD, and you will see the benefits.
If you won't be rooting or are not rooted, any cheapo will do.
Is this the SD that came with the phone? The 8GB one? It may be covered under warranty. Take it to the store.
Excellent point Smacky. They cover everything else that comes with the phone. The SD card should be too.
What makes you think it's damaged?
Did you try formatting yet? You could try to format it in your pc, then put it your phone and format again. Not sure this works with a phone though.
Got my Eris April 1st and the card went bad today April 24th. Yes I tried it in two computers and a Palm TX and to no avail. Tried a 1 gig card that I had in the Eris and it works fine. Going to Verizon monday to see what they will do! I never took the card out till it went bad!
I've had 1 sd card go bad on me over the years, it went bad less than a week after i got it. Of course i didn't bother to take it back, it was so cheap i just threw it away and bought a better brand.
This happened me today. Did you ny any chance update lockbot? My card notified it was damaged shortly after updating. Reformatted and it says 7.40gb capacity. Is that right? It's the stock 8gb card.
stock 8gb micro sd card that came with the phone. no on the above post. wasn't running lock bot at the time or anything.
I may be misunderstanding you but in case you did not know, storage media never have the amount of space available as advertised. It says "8 GB" but with some necessary files needed for operation, yes, it may be 7.4 or somewhere around there that you can actually use. It is not wrong in saying less than what it says on the cover/box.
The 16GB card that is in my phone as I type this "went bad" on me a while back. I got it with a rather substantial employee discount, so I just threw it in "the pile" (as my wife calls it) for a few days.
Then I got curious, plugged it in again, and it's been working fine for several weeks. As much as common sense and all my expensive training state otherwise, sometimes they just need a break...
