Help Dashes in email are forbidden!

I have some friends with emails like xxx@yahoo-inc.com. The Contact Manager will not allow me to add such an email address, claiming that is malformed (which of course is false). The problem appears to be the dash--the Contact Manager believes an email address cannot contain a dash. Anybody knows a fix for this?

I have just tried it and had to no problem.

Took an existing contact, added a new email address of test@yahoo-inc.com and it had no problem.

Can't explain why you have such a problem - are you typing the address in?

I tried both typing and adding an address from an email. Same result. Could be the version of the OS? Are you using the stock Contact application?

Using standard OS that came with the phone (never updated).

Just tried it again, made a new contact, no problem with test@yahoo-inc.com

Really don't know what to suggest. Sure you are not doing something stupid like typing in the wrong field (telephone instead of email)?

Try xxx@yahoo-inc.com - that defintiely works for me

As a workaround, have you tried adding the contact in gmail contact and then synchronize it with the phone?

The problem is actually not new:

Presently I just create an Address Book entry on my Mac, export a vCard, send it to the P500 and import it. It works.
