I'm surprised the Moto G doesn't come with a data cable but I found a data cable from an old mp3 player, hopefully it will work just to transfer files.

You bought the Verizon pre-paid, right? The GSM version bought direct from Motorola and Amazon includes a white USB data/charging cable.

Unfortunately the Verizon one is hard wired into the charging block!

I'm assuming that Motorola is letting the carried make these strange decisions.

I bought mine from Motorola and the USB cable came with it. No power charger. Luckily, my current phone's charger works pretty good, but I'm going to buy another one in case I sell or give the current phone to one of the grand kids.

It did seem odd they didn't include a power charger though!

Here's mine. It has an output of 550ma and it doesn't say Motorola or Verizon anywhere. It's made in India.

Must be the carrier /retailer as most handsets only come with a data cable and no charger.

The Samsung Stratosphere phone I got two years ago for Verizon came with a data & power cable, separate pieces. Maybe Samsung offer this because the wife's phone came that way also and she have an S3.
