    HI,

We are developing an App which has huge data flow to and from a Web server. We are using Rest calls to achieve the same. As the data is huge, we are currently facing some time out issues, please let us know how to increase the efficiency in receiving the data from the server, we want to know if there are any Data compression techniques that are being used. Thanks in advance.

Most servers today compress the data they send, so "compressing" the data wouldn't make it any smaller. Concentrate, instead, on putting more data into fewer bytes. Read Shannon. Or use encoding techniques. If there's a fixed set of data, it can probably be represented by a small number of tokens.

Also, of course, normalize everything to death.

(I'm assuming that you understand communications theory - if you don't, you're writing the wrong app.)
