Data-Only plan...caught in a pickle

As always with phone shopping, I get caught in a pickle. I want to get an HTC Hero with a Data-Only plan and unlimited texting and just use sipdroid/voip provider to fill in for voice. One problem: that's a different number for voice and SMS. Does anyone know of a VOIP/SIP service that has SMS forwarding to e-mail? (that would work because I could send it to the sms-email gateway)

Any other solutions?

You could use Google Voice. Use your GVoice number to forward your SMS to e-mail as well as have it ring whatever number you want.
Gvoice looks awesome, I was considering that actually.
Invite didn't come yet, and I've been waiting on it for awhile.
How many weeks does it take on average? I think I waited only one.

In the meantime, I might pull the old sipgate + sipdroid routine, but I'm not sure how to get sipgate SMS.
