I don't know if anyone else had this problem but =I went to bed last night with th e full faith that my android would automatically update for daylight savings time however it did not so I waas pretty late for work today wich isn't all th at bad except for the fact tha_ I. Braged about my android and the fact that it s ould automaticvally update to spring forward an hour tonight wh ile I'm asleep but ofcourse that did not happen but guess what phone did update. My buddies iphone did the update np so guess its back to the drawing board for our devs I just caznt belive that they would over look something like this it doesn't speak very highly of them mayby they can get it right for fall when we go back an hour and next time I will not relly on them instead I will set the allarm for my own personal adjustment. Just saying ty to th e devs for making me late to work and the laughing stock of the iphone crew.

My story is even more bizarre...the phone updated just fine but the alarm STILL did not go off at the appropriate time. Why? Well the alarm appears to have adjusted itself to one hour later but when I went in to change it to the correct time, it was still set correctly. I'll be watching for tomorrow to roll around and see just what time the alarm DOES work.

Are you guys using 1.5 or something? Alarm worked perfect AND last night properly displayed the time til alarm, counting for DST.

I agree DST sucks.. even more now that they changed it so you don't get bonus trick-or-treating time. lol

I like this time period. I hate time CHANGES though.

Those that don't like it don't do any outdoor activity ;)

My Droid X updated fine. I also had an alarm set, but it was a backup to my iPhone in a dock that i use as mu primary alarm clock. The iPhone also updated of of WiFi, so I turned off the DX alarm before it went off. I seem to remember it working just fine last year, though.

Oh, and to the thread starter, welcome to the forum, but PLEASE check your future posts for grammar and spelling!

Do you have auto update enabled in settings? My G2 updated just fine. I even watched it happen as the bar was closing.

I don't rely on my phone to act as my alarm, thank God.. :) And I don't work on Sundays, so I didn't have to worry about getting up!

Sort of on the subject, I travel a lot and I've found that if you set an alarm in one time zone and then travel to another. The alarm will change with the zone. Same goes for calendar events. Time will change. If you move back and hour then the event/alarm goes back an hour. Same going forward in time zones.

My Inspire corrected for the time change just fine this morning (Sunday), but it will not allow me to set my wake up alarm during the hours of 0200 - 0259 Monday morning (early flight scheduled). I believe there is no 0200-0259 during the time change on Sunday, but that doesn't account for it not allowing me to set during this time Monday. Guess I will just wake up at 0300 instead of 0245.

Hero running stock 2.1 adjusted just fine. I can not respond to the alarm though, because I have yet to have to use the alarm on my phone.

Just heard the I phone went back an hr instead of fwd. So seems like many cell devices are having issues with dst.

My EVO updated with no problem.

I wonder if those having issues do not Date & Time set to "use network-proved values"?

They didn't. My Droid updated just fine. My wife's iPhone 4 did not.

Interesting theory but I don't like it and I'm outdoors quite a bit. I don't need DST to do stuff outdoors. The rest of the world (and states like AZ that ignore it) seem to get by just fine without it.

Love that extra hour of outdoors time. Leave it in this time and I will be fine. Could care less if it's dark in the morning getting up in the winter. The only time I do outdoor activities in the morning is when I'm off work, then time doesn't matter. BUT, having an extra hour after work to do something outdoors makes a huge difference to me. I hate going home in the dark all winter long.
If it doesn't matter to you, then what's the difference? Changing a clock?

There is always a bit of debate in the UK about the clock changes. England would probably be reasonably happy to do away with it - but the issue is here in Scotland. If the clocks didn't shift, it wouldn't get light till after 9am for large parts of Scotland - which is an issue for children going to school. There are lots of pros and cons each way on this - gets easy tabloid headlines every year!

But if we have our way and keep British Summer Time all year round, will our phones still want to change to GMT in the autumn

I have an android LG p500h with android 2.2.1. The clock updated fine, but the default alarm clock app did not (late for work :( ). You can tell by going into the alarm settings where it is still set an hour behind. My guess is the internal clock is never changed ( set to UTC) but the software has a timezone + dst modifier it applies at runtime. Alarm clock is not applying this correctly.

Now that I think about it, I haven't restarted my phone since the change. If Alarm clock doesn't listen for ACTION_TIME_CHANGED or the like, it may not have been notified of the time change.

Edit: Confirmed. Reboot my phone, adjusted the time in Alarm Clock and allowed me to set the alarm properly. It seems either AlarmManager is not notifying a DST change or Alarm Clock is misusing java.util.Calendar.
