Hi. Up to a week ago my wifi was working fine. The usual dropping out of course but not completely dead like it is now. I have a HTC Magic running 2.21 with a 2.6.32.9-27237-gbe746fb kernel version. Old but reliable enough. It still scans and finds the network but just won't connect. It scans till it disconnects all the time. I reset the phone to default which wiped everything and still didn't make any difference. I had to get all my necessary apps back with 3G which cost me a mint. Otherwise its just a nice paperweight. Anyone got any ideas?? Also I bought a new HTC Incredible S s710e but haven't got it yet. Does anyone know if its got the nice themes like the Desire has? Thanks for any help. Cheers Julie

Has anything changed on the router side maybe? Is it with specific WiFi hotspots, or all of them?

My son set it up so that it gets his new phone but left an open port for me. Everything else in the house picks it up except my phone.

I'd suggest you test it on a couple of other, preferably public, WiFi hotspots too. And check whether the port he left open is the port your phone connects to, of course.

Hey...guess what? It works with the mobile wifi. I think my son has pulled a swifty on me. Thanks for the help guys. I reinstalled by phone costing me $50 for free apps when it wasn't the phone at all. Oh dear!!! Thanks for the help.

Unless your son is paying for the internet access, you might consider disconnecting the router and locking it up until he apologizes and reimburses your $50.

The better solution would be to get into the router settings, and restrict logons by MAC address, being sure not to include the MAC address for any of his devices. But I'm betting he knows the password to the router and you don't.
