Well it turns out about 2 weeks ago, I had decided to renew my two year contract on verizon by getting the iphone. After further research and what I have seen, the freedom of android is just too appealing to pass up. So my question is this, am I able to purchase the TB without a contract(600$ish?), activate it on my line, and then sell the Iphone I have, lets say on ebay, and get the off contract price on that too? Or does that not work because the iphone is on contract still?

And one more question as I'm hear, along with 95% of TB buyers, I too fear the battery life. Since I live in Milwaukee, where 4g is not present, will I need to worry about disabling it or will it work fine and still conserve my battery? And have anyone tried using any of the battery saving apps in the marketplace with luck?

First of all...the phone is not on contract, you are. :) If you upgrade your phone, and then sell it the next day...that's okay by Verizon.

Secondly...when you say about 2 weeks ago, how many days exactly? If you are within 14 days, you can go into the store...pay $35 restocking fee...pay the difference between the new contract pricing for the Thunderbolt (or receive the difference depending on which iPhone model you purchased)...and be done with the whole thing.

But to your exact question...yes, you can purchase the Thunderbolt off contract for $599.99 and then sell your iPhone on ebay.

I was also outside the return policy for my iPhone 4. I sold it for $580 on ebay, bought Tbolt for 599. It was worth 20 bucks to me :p (granted, ebay/paypal fees blow but yeah lol).

UBRocked, so you got the Thunderbolt... I couldn't resist either... what did you do with your Fascinate?

My wife got a Fascinate less than 3 weeks ago and may back out of that and sell it on eBay in favor of a Thunderbolt. I love mine. I'll love it more after they obtain root and there is a version of CM7 for it! ;)

+1 The contract doesn't follow a specific phone, so you're fine to do that.

    What can I say...I'm a tech whore! :p

At the end of the day, the T-Bolt isn't the "Mecha" of all devices (pun intended there LOL), but it's the best choice for me out of all of the phones that are currently out, announced, or rumored.

Motorola and their locked bootloaders...I'm not down with that so the Bionic is out (although I wanted that Tegra2 so badly). Samsung...yeah I've been down that road...not going back, so the Samsung 4G LTE phone (nice name...very creative :p) is out. LG Revolution? Don't think so...it looks like a generic version of TouchWiz running on it...and no dual core.

HTC didn't make my decision for me...their competition did!

Oh yeah...I'm selling the Fascinate on eBay.

Honestly with Motorola...it's more the principal than anything. You don't embrace the rooted community (or at least tolerate us)? Cool...but I won't buy your products ;)

HTC has been pretty good about that kind of thing. Figured as someone that likes to root their phone...I'd support a company that doesn't create a whole bunch of work for themselves JUST to prevent us.

After all...the main reason to root and ROM a Motorola phone these days is to get rid of Motoblur LOL

Wait until after the NCAA Tournament ;)

Even though I have to tether my iPod4 using my Incredible, the results of the March Madness app still rock :)

Nice being able to watch the games when no TV option :)

Android better have it next year :(
