Help Default contact type for new contacts?

I don't store any contacts on T-Mobile, they are all stored in Google (the exception to this is that the myTouch 4G insists on creating a T-Mobile contact for my faves, but no big deal). I have displaying of T-Mobile contacts disabled.

When I add a new contact, by default it is a T-Mobile contact rather than a Google contact. Is there a way to change this default on the stock ROM?

Thanks ... Mike

When adding a new contact at the top of the section it should say contact type. Hit that and select google. Im sure its going to be tmobile by default however its easily changeable.

Hope that helps

Not really, but thanks. I am supporting two users (family members) who expect their electronic devices to do the right thing without having to stop and think. Being able to set the default would have helped. But it's not a huge deal (so long as we stay with T-Mobile since all their new contacts are being stored there instead of with Google).

I've wondered the same, and haven't been able to get an answer... it seems that the default is indeed T-Mobile, and it has to be manually changed each time. :(

If you have (temporarily) rooted your device, use Titanium Backup to freeze the NabService. Now the T-mobile account should be eliminated from the Accounts and Sync. The storage option for T-mobile contact should also be gone.

Now if you have problem setting the Google account as the default contact storage, clear the data of ContactStorage service and only sync with the Google account at the first shot:
How to set google as default account for contacts ... - T-Mobile Community

I actually followed the above method several times but the T-mobile contact returns once in a while. So, freezing the NabService is the way to go.
