Anyone else notice this? Basically when I press the power key there is a slight lag before the screen lights up, is this a setting somewhere?

This was also a little problem on the original SGS2, they say it's because the processor powers down when the screen goes off and it takes it a little long to power back up. So you can't stop it from doing this.

do you have a micro sd card installed?

someone else in another forum noticed the delay gets cut down if you take out the microsd card... havent tested it but multiple people confirmed over there..

I have yet to see the phone in my area yet, but I have noticed on YouTube reviews that some people have said there is a lag when powering up from sleep. This is the first correlation with an sd card though.

Then why do we shell out our hard earned cash on these dual core 1Ghz+ processors?!

Have faith MAYBE Samsung will put out software update to fix a few of the bugs.

if it powers down while screen is off then that conserves battery.

    OH MY GOD!!!

I must return it right away!!!

No its worse than that! Its 2 seconds! I just took a hammer to mine! I can't use a phone that doesn't come on within a tenth of a second!

If it doesn't happen with the sd-card it must be some sort of scan on screen wake... which means eventually it will be fixed with custom kernels :D can't wait

I just find it funny that people would actually post about this. Let alone start thinking it's some kind of a bug.

    ~just sayin~

The funny thing is, the phone does not exhibit this lag at all when there is no SD card installed. On every handset I've tried the 1-2 second lag between pressing the power button and the screen coming alive is only present when an SD card is inserted. Indeed when the SD card is removed the phone will always wakeup from power press to screen illumination in well under one second- a split second!

To me this completely debunks all of the CPU undervolting theories that attempt to explain this wakeup lag. It could however have to do with power (or lack thereof) being supplied to the SD card upon sleep.

In any case this specific lag issue really is hogwash when you consider my LG Optimus S was engineered to have equal battery life to this phone and it always woke up instantly, even with an SD card installed.
