are you rooted? You can use the pre-kitchen from Flipz to delete them. Otherwise you have to delete them a few at a time. It's recommended to not let your texts get over a thousand (arbitrary number on my part)

Root it, baby. One click in pre-kitchen and they are gone.

Bwaaack, bwack, bwack, bwack. Just kidding.

You can root using pre-kithcen and not flash a new rom. Although, you will flash once you see how easy it is.

Don't think you can hurt the phone.

Sorry for the stupid questions. I assume you root to load a new OS. What do you recommend?

search for the app "delete old messages" from Jads Limited.

This is the ONLY app that worked well for me. the rest werent good at all. sms quick delete would allow the phone to sleep so it stopped working when the screen turned off. Neither handcent batch mode , chomps,or the stock messaging app worked nearly this good.

it will not let you select individual texts or threads, but it will allow you to delete text by their age. i.e. it will delete texts older than 1 day, 1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month, , 2 months, etc. i had a thread with 9000 texts in it and it worked beautifully.

yes ,900o texts. i couldnt delete them and they just kept adding up. i refused to delte all of my text from other people so a wipe was out of the question. hope you get your issue solved. you didnt need to root to use this app.
