Desire C will charge, will not turn on

I've had my Desire C for over a year now, and I haven't had too much difficulty with it until now. Last night, I went to bed with the battery quite low, and it died while I was asleep. I started charging it when I first got up this morning, but now, even with an almost-full charge, the power will not turn on. I've tried replacing the battery, and I inspected the power button to see if there was maybe something wedged in that prevented it from working, but I still can't get it to turn on. What should I do?

Charge the battery for 24 hours, to start. I can't believe that it went from almost zero charge to almost full charge in a few hours.
