Help Desire HD Complete Reset

Can anyone tell me whether it's possible to completely reboot the Desire HD? I don't mean like a factory reset. I mean a complete software reset so that it's like it was out the box with no OTA updates? Then if you want to you can re-install the latest update. My phone started messing up after I did the update. It came up with a large red notification triangle and a picture of the phone and crashed after the update and now it won't connect to wifi and keeps rebooting. I thought if I could completely set it back to its original software everything should work again. Can anybody help?

if you go into settings and about you can do a factory reset from there, im sure you cant restore to the older firmware without a more technical route
