    Hi everyone,

Just got myself a brand new Telus HTC desire over the weekend. Great phone, my first android! :)

However, I've noticed a problem with the camera LED flash:

    1) it intermittently flashes, even when I'm not using the camera app.
    2) When it flashes while using the camera, it stays on forever, even after after quitting the camera app. The only way to turn it off is to power off the phone!
    3) The timing of the flash with the camera is off too, so that the camera takes a photo, and the flash comes on a fraction of a second later. The result is a dark picture. Also, the flash stays on for a few seconds before going off. Or sometimes, it just doesn't, as in 2)

I've looked everywhere to see if this is a known issue but no one seems to have this problem. I took it back to where I bought it from, the guy thinks it's a software issue which could maybe receive an update soon. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

Many thanks in advance for any help/suggestions/comments you can provide! :)

This has never happened to me, mate. I've actually never heard of it happening either, so I'm not surprised to read that you have had difficulty finding evidence of others in a similar predicament to yourself.

Is there any way you could take it back and have a replacement handset?

Yeah, it's a weird one isn't it? The guy said to wait a few days to see if it ends up being a software issue. He said if the problem persists, I could get a replacement. So I'll wait a couple of days, and if nothing changes, I'll just ask for a replacement. Thanks for the quick reply!

Just got a replacement, and the problem is gone. Must have been a hardware issue after all! :)

I am having this same issue.
Damn. I don't want to take it in again. I have already taken it back once because the flash wasn't firing at all. It was gone 4 and a half weeks that time. Now it is going off randomly.

    Grrr.

Telus or HTC wont replace it, they have to send it back to be repaired. So this would be the second time. It has to go back 3 times before they will replace it. :S
