Help Desire S - Limited Service, Timing Out

Hi.

Just received my new Desire S a week ago - its an amazing phone

But Im having a problem where I'm leaving the phone (say on my desk) and its not ringing, calls are going straight to voicemail and then the alert to say that there is a voicemail is taking ages to come through. It says Limited service/emergency calls only

Sometimes when I pick up the phone and try to make a call it reconnects to the network other times it needs rebooting.

The network sent out a new sim card (said it might be because I had a 2g sim) but this does not seem to have solved the problem.

What do you suggest? Should I replace the phone? Is it a network issue?
