This used to work seamlessly but since the 2.2 update...
Whenever i arrive home from work i turn wifi on and all connects well. If i then leave the house and return the wi-fi fails to reconnect automatically. This has only happened since i carried out the update and noticed someone else on another thread has exactly the same problem on vodafone eforum. Is there a solution? Currently i need to turn wi-fi off and back on again and it works, not the end of the world but a pain since it used to work so well! I've tried y5 to try and force it, to no avail and carried out a reset (not full factory just remove battery etc).

I'm having EXACTLY the same problem, although I haven't updated my phone (not to my knowledge, I avoided the firmware update that vodafone attempted to kill us with).

Sorry to say I'm experiencing the same symptoms. Wifi connects well, but leave the house and return, and the Desire locks into a scan - connecting - disconnecting loop.
Turning wifi off/on makes no difference, neither does requesting a connect on this network directly. The only way to stop this and resume service seems to be rebooting the router....maybe something to do with re-issuing ip address???

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Do you have a hidden SSID by any chance?

I found that since the 2.2 update my Desire wouldn't connect to my WiFi at home, which does have a hidden SSID. I was directed to a utility called Wifi advanced config editor, which sorted the issue for me.

Also, sometimes even now it doesn't pick up the WiFi when I return home, but usually toggling the WiFi off/on, sorts it.
Last resort is toggling Airplane mode and that always sorts it, but it's rare I have to do that.

Thanks for taking the time SiHa,
No hidden SSID and the Airplane toggle didn't sort it. But have downloaded config editor and will play over the next few days.
    Fingers crossed.

Seem to have stumbled across a solution to this, not sure why it works but it works .
Tried reserved Ip's in router, this seemed to improve matters (took about a week to recur). Then went on to limit wireless access to router based on MAC addresses (had previously been secured only by psk encryption)...... instantly the desire broke out of the 'scanning, connecting, disconnecting' cycle and connected.

Don't ask, I have no idea why! (maybe someone could provide an explanation).
Anyway, thanks again for your thought provoking help through the forum.
