Useful accessory or unnecessary item?
i use it by my bedside as my alarm clock, i haven't played w/ the music feature much but i did run it through one of my bose wave radio's and it sounded ok...
Think it's great!
Very useful and you never have to plug a USB charging cable. To expensive but what can you do?
Its ok. Worth it? No. Good to have? Yes.
I find the dock to be stupidly designed. The phone has to be put in just the right way for the contacts to touch. Theres the smallest lip for the phone catch into. If you dont catch it the right way, the phone slips right out.
I agree with this. It is sometimes slightly difficult and annoying to get the phone into the dock. Sometimes the phone will even start charging and then all on its own decide that the contacts aren't lined up and stop charging. I'll put up with the dock for now since I shelled out the money for it but i wouldn't have bought it had i had the chance to "test drive" it first.
So if I get a Nexus One, it probably would be not worth it to add the dock?
^ I think its worth it and I'm glad I bought it.
Just slip it in. Its a slick charging stand and works well as a clock and music player. I'm a sucker for OEM though. If it looks like crap I wont use it. The dock is sexy and meshes well with my nightstand stuff.
Does it give added functionality besides standing it up as an alarm clock and having a line out?
Drop it in and it to auto clock and starts charging
Phone tethers to the doc through BT and then the dock is the line out.
That's pretty much it...
Picture slideshow I think also... maybe
I have the dock and like it. Ya, you gotta watch the charge LED to make sure it's touching properly and it almost always is for me.
The one thing that disappoints me is that the trackball doesn't blink continually when there are notifications. It'll blink once but that's it and when the screensaver kicks in, you can't tell if there are messages or not. A blinking ball would be nice in case you miss the initial indication.
I'll give you $20 for it
Seriously - I never had any problems with placing my nexus into dock. It never fell off or wahatever else people say (don't aks me what do i do - it just don't). Dock by itself is IMO usefull - I just come and charge it (without looking for charger under my desk where are millions of cables). If I somebody will reverse the time I'll buy it again.
So does this Google dock work with the case mate tough case? The bottom of the case has the contacts exposed.
Negative. Too much elevated separation from the pins to the dock.
Can't imagine the dock working with any case or skins. I have a simple plastic skin and the phone doesn't even come close to fitting in the dock.
Is there a car dock available for it yet?
Not the official one (still waiting!!!!!) but you can get 3rd party ones...
i've only had the N1 and dock for 1 day but i definitely am glad i bought the dock. it works
great and is very handy ! i may order another
one for my computer desk.
Does anyone know if it is unsafe for the battery if I leave the N1 in a dock basically all day while at work?
i can't see why, it's a lithium
Not yet, but there have been supposed shots of it all over blogs. Just search
