Is anyone else looking forward to this coming out at the end of August?

Personally I can't wait for it to come out, Deus Ex HR is one of my all time favorite games and this one looks like its just going to build on that,

My only problem is that my PC is at the lower end of the spec range and they still haven't released the minimum PC specs officially, I can run Witcher 3 at between 50/60 FPS on medium graphics settings so I should be ok I think.

I'm going back and forth on whether to pre-order it.

I thought Deus Ex Human Revolution was a brilliant game, right up until the point where I got to a boss fight, only to find out that all my augmentations had been disabled, due to a decision I made way, way earlier in the game.
Basically this rendered my chances of progressing virtually impossible, so after about the 100th reload of the game, I threw the controller at the TV in frustration, and have never loaded the game since.

To design a game where a (bad) decision earlier causes a huge problem to progression later on is unforgivable. There is no way I'm going back to replay from the decision point, and probably had overwritten that save anyway.

I loved the original Deus Ex and Human Revolution, they are among my favorite games. Hopefully the new one will be as good.

LV, that would suck to get stuck like that. I agree that is bad game design if there is really no way to progress from there. Did you check a walkthrough to make sure there's no work around? There are usually several different strategies you can use to proceed in those games.

Yes walkthroughs checked, which basically said you're screwed Haha! I saw one guy beat it with no augs, but my skill level is just not good enough to do it. Shame, because up to that point I was really enjoying the game.

The original Deus Ex was an amazing game that blew everything else at the time out of the water, The first level on liberty Island completely flawed me with all the different routes and ways to complete the mission.

LV I also came completely unstuck on when I reached that boss and lost all my augs, only managed to get past him after repeated play through's and to be honest a fluke!

I have recently got the directors cut and all of the bosses have been re-designed. Haven't made it up to that boss yet so I can't be sure exactly whats different. I read though that the reason that they have re-designed the bosses is that on the original version the boss fights were sub-contracted to another company/department (not sure which) and Eidos montreal wheren't happy with them. Apparently they didn't have enough options on different ways to kill them. I have played against the first boss and the improvements are quite impressive. Killing the boss using hacked bots (if you have that aug by then) is now an option and there are a couple more ways that I can't remember. I'm going to remember not to get the aug upgrade that leads to them been disabled though just incase! haha

I found a video of this. Basically the bad guy has an invisibility cloak/teleport device so you can't see him coming without special augs.
What made things worse for me was I had hardly any heavy weaponry in my inventory, so not much to fight with. Absolutely atrocious that the game lets the player get into this state.
I even tried to drag a turret up in the elevator and place it in the room, but there's virtually no time to do this before he's on you, and the turret was largely ineffective because he simply avoids it.
As you can see, it takes this player nearly 9 minutes to kill the boss. Can you imagine the level of frustration here, having to go through this over and over and over again, until you happen to somehow get lucky?

Yeah I know exactly how frustrating it was! haha

Heres the video of the Directors cut Namir fight.

Although that player obviously didn't loose his augs still looks like theres a hell of alot more ways to fight him even if you did still loose your augs. you'd still be able to get the laser cannon if you went into the room with no heavy weapons.

This is a piece of cake if you use the Typhoon aug to blast the crap out of him. But I don't have it.
And is that upstairs room even in the original version?!
Notice he turns the bot against the enemy, but you need the hacking aug to do that.

Yeah after watching the video again you still need aug's to do everything he does in that video,
I'm nearly at the part on the directors cut where you choose in the LIMB clinic whether or not to get the upgrade that royally screws you up later on so I'm curious to know if it still gives you the same choices. (Obviously if it does I know what I'll be choosing this time!)
Although after playing HR lots this weekend I must say (apart from the problem we've mentioned) what a ****ing quality game!:D

It is a quality game, but I do like that kind of stealth genre.
Digging around on the web, someone mentioned a tactic for defeating Namir without augs. He said you could hide behind the turret in the elevator, and let it take him out. So, I booted up the game, positioned the gun, and made a dash back to the elevator. Result - Namir lobs an EMP grenade which fries the turret, then he proceeds to blast me while I'm trapped in the elevator. Haha! Oh well, worth a try.

Talking of stealth, my all time favourite was Splinter Cell. I played the whole franchise, and it's unusual for me to actually finish any game because I tend to get bored with them. Anyway I played all Splinter Cell games, up until the point that Ubisoft ruined it, and the game just became another run-and-gun FPS. All the stealth element which made it so good for me, was gone.
Call me odd, but I found it hugely rewarding to find a way of getting through missions without killing anyone :D

I could never manage to get into the splinter cell games. But that's a full stealth game thing, I could never get into the old Metal gears for the same reason. I just like the fall back of been able to storm through setting off all the alarms if I have to.

Although on my recent Deus ex HR play through I am going mostly for stealth, stealthy but not pacifist! the lethal take down cut scenes are so much better than the non-lethal ones.:D

    Just finished this.

Great game, one of the best I played in 2016, but it ended with a bit of a whimper. When the achievement came up to say I'd completed the game, I was a little taken aback.

Definitely worth another play through making different choices this time.
