Can't you go to the lower right corner and find it there? One press and it pops right up. Works for me, and once you know you have to do that you can be one step ahead. Easy. I usually press the 1 key(long press) and go to vm that way. Then the dial pad is up and ready. ;)

You might be covering up the light sensor (maybe with an aftermarket case ?) and the phone is going into "next to your face" mode and disabling the screen/keypad.

Try it without any case or cover and see what happens.

Because G'zone Commander issued its own certified case, I would think that Casio would take precautions for any failure in case construction.
I would also think that Casio would draw attention to the location of this particular Voice mail Sensor, but I see no such label. I have no interest in listening of others who "might" know where this sensor is.
Obviously, Voice mail has incorporated this sensor as part of this programing protocol. Does that mean the voice mail can only be accessed during extremely bright light, or absolute darkness??
It shouldn't matter if the case is ON or OFF, yet Casio's programmers, promotional designers and marketing department is left with a product which is inoperative.
I have to assume that "voice mail" as an after market application, for some reason incorporated Casio's sight sensor as part of its program design.
Is "voice mail" a proprietary after market application, because Casio needs to appoint or contract a completely new after market voice mail application. As it stands now, the existing voice mail application is inoperative, unpredictable and extremely annoying!!!!
I want to hear from Casio on how they're going to fix this problem. I have little patience is reading suspect ideas which Casio should have fixed long ago.
Whether I like or dislike Casio is irrelevant at this point, but it depends on how Casio handles this problem as to G'zone Commander's success or failure. Fit it!!!!

    Woah.

So what seems to be the issue with your commando's voicemail? this problem was resolved back in September of last year. Most users here have no issues with the voicemail on our phones, and the voicemail app is through Verizon i believe, so it should have nothing to do with Casio. Also it is not a voicemail sensor, it is an infrared sensor to determine how close your face is to the screen so your cheek does not push buttons when in a call. Also the case for the Commando does not come any where near the sensor, nevermind cover it up. Perhaps you have your hand over it? when i use my voicemail, i just hold down the 1 key in the dialer and it calls voicemail without any issues, the dialpad comes back up when I'm prompted to enter my code, and I close it manually when I'm done deleting my messages.

Obviously this is not the case with your case because you are describing a known issue with the OEM case.

    RTFM...

On page 7 of the owners manual you will find a diagram showing the different landmarks on your phone. Item 7, in the upper right hand corner, is the proximity sensor. What this does is detect if the phone is against your face. When it detects that the phone is against your face it blanks the screen and is supposed to prevent any virtual button presses that would hang up your phone or face dial during a call. If a portion of a case or holder is covering the proximity sensor it can't tell the difference and you get the same result. One of the virtual buttons it blanks is the button that brings up the dial pad - that will be just above the bottom right hand corner (immediately to the right of the big red hang up button) and is only present while in a call and the proximity sensor is uncovered.

Nope, just make sure the proximity sensory is uncovered.

No product is perfect and the end user must learn and adapt to the shortcomings of any product.

Yes and no. Voicemail is part of the phone.apk but then Verizon overlays their visual voicemail app which is pretty much useless. This can be removed on a rooted device but then the voicemail button on the dialer won't work.

    Good luck!

The members of this forum are not Casio. The regular group of guys here get along well and I really don't appreciate your tone towards my online friends. If this phone makes you this angry, take it up with Verizon, or maybe take your phone out of it's case.
