    Hi all,

All of my experiences have been with HTC Devices so I have a feeling that my "Dialer" experience is due to the differences in the GNex and HTC Sense.

In the dialer apps of my HTCs, when I would enter a number to call, I would be able to dial "323" to see my Dad pop up or "247" to see numbers that either have that exact sequence in there or names like Christopher, where the letters match the numbers. I noticed that this feature is not on the Nexus. It just makes it a lot easier to dial, at least for me since I am so used to it.

If anyone has any suggestions on an option I'd need to select to get the same thing or an app I can download that would do what I'd want it to do, I'd really appreciate it!

There are two options I know of.

    Dialer One

    or

myDialer lite (this one has a really good ICS theme)

Mydialer or exdialer with the appearance set to dark.

Ray Dialer also does this, alternatively you can hit the search button in the bottom left of the Gnex default dialer and perform this function.

I dont know why they dont make this a part of android, seems like an easy thing to do and makes calling so much better. Ive used Go Dialer and loved it but going to stick with the stock dialer and see if i can get used to it...come on google!

RocketDial contains the feature you want , besides the name / phone, you can actually use the dialpad to search any field of the contact you want . It is quite easy to use , RocketDial is a paid software (3.99USD), but it is totally worth it . There is a free trial version you can try.

Latest version RocketDial works great on ICS .
