My wife and I both have matching G2s. Mine is rooted and hers is stock. We both decided to add additional security to our phones to keep our 2 year old from sending "adklkcjhda" themed texts to our friends. She chose a password and I went with a pin. I mistyped the pin (twice) upon creation and now, short of hard resetting the phone, I have no way in. I have my gmail account/password from when we set up the phones, but it seems that everything I've read about entering the pin incorrectly 20 times and then being given the option to unlock the phone with your gmail credentials doesn't apply to the G2.

I tried it on her stock phone by typing in a wrong password 30 times and didn't get the option on hers either, so I don't think it's because I'm on a different ROM.

How do I get to the "Enter Your Gmail Username/Password" screen on my G2?

Was this feature not incorporated into the G2?

UPDATE: My wife changed hers from a password lock to a pattern lock. After 5 attempts, the "Forgot Pattern" button appears in the lower right. This option simply doesn't exist for password or pin protection. Bummer.

    Much appreciated,

    Tobias

Are you allowed to enter any numerical information? You may have set up the SIM PIN code versus the phone PIN. Locking yourself out of your SIM PIN requires you to call in to customer care and get the PUK, a ten-ish digit number. If you want to know, for sure, stick your SIM into any phone you may have (including your wife's) and see if you are able to access the network.

Also. If you can take your SIM out, and boot up your phone. If you are allowed to access the phone, that will confirm that you set up a SIM PIN and you need the PUK.

    Swizz,

Thanks for the quick reply. No, the SIM pin was left untouched. The problem isn't isolated to my phone from what I can tell. I can't get it to display on my wife's stock phone either. I'm sitting here now punching in random digits and letting it do the 30 second cool-off after 5 incorrect entries. I'm up to 30 incorrect attempts and still no gmail validation screen. I've seen screenshots of just about every other Android based phone with the validation screen displayed after 20 incorrect attempts.

On a side note tho, I did discover a flaw with GingerVillan ROM - if I plug my wife's stock phone into the laptop via USB, the phone never shows up until you enter her password and turn on USB browsing. However, when I plug my rooted, GingerVillan based phone into the laptop, it allows me to browse the SD card. All this without entering an unlock password. Interesting...

Can any of you G2 owners confirm they get the gmail validation screen?
