Compassion is cool!
Let's keep this non-inflammatory so it's not moved to P&CA, okay? Don't name names.

Have you voted yet? Do you intend to? How are you voting--by mail, in person, by dropping off your ballot?

I voted yesterday, by mail as I've done for several years; it's waiting to be picked up by the mail carrier.

Prior to voting, I gathered the DELUGE of mail I'd received for and against various things. It's tough here in California because we always have a lot of propositions, in addition to candidates for various offices. Plus, in order to figure out which way to vote on propositions 15 and 19, I had to do a lot of research on our landmark 1978 prop 13. So by the time I actually filled out my ballot, I was exhausted!

But I'm proud to have voted. A lot of people say it's our right; I'm more inclined to say it's a privilege, one we shouldn't squander.

As well you should be. I look on it as a responsibility as a citizen, not a game of winners and losers. The first election I voted in was a presidential election when I was in college. I think it was Coolidge. ;) :p

I hear you: my sister-in-law lives in CA, and a couple of days ago she told me that she was going to vote as soon as she'd finished wading through the mass of propositions! ;)

It's crazy. And this time, I couldn't use my normal shortcut when I'm unsure, i.e., endorsements from politicians I align with. This time, the two props I mentioned were endorsed by people I normally agree with...but after my due diligence, I disagreed. There would be prop 13-changing consequences that would affect my daughter [when I die] very badly, financially. I suspect they're going to pass, though, so I guess we'll see what we can do.

More than 1 million California ballots already cast, shattering records

"Election day is more than two weeks away, but already more than 1 million Californians have returned their mail-in ballots, according to the state, an amount that dwarfs the number submitted at this point four years ago. This marks the most ballots collected by mail at this point in any California election..."

:D :D

If you're a California voter, you can track your ballot.

People thinking voting changes thing, that it counts, since I was a teenager I have to beliefs about American politics 1) neither republican's nor democrats actually care about America, 2) the only good American politician is a dead American politician.
