Die-hard android fan, Longtime Droid-X owner, But WHATS THE DEAL?

I had the droid 1 since the day it was released. Then i upgraded to the droid incredible day one of release, then I upgraded to the droid X the day of release. I've been using the X for awhile now and its great and all but i'm ready to upgrade once again. Where is this dual core 4g android phone and when is it coming out? Is the thunderbolt that much of an upgrade from the X should I just get that? I have been waiting for this droid "bionic" which i now believe is a myth or something seems like the thing doesn't exist and was discontinued. Any help would be great. When is Verizon getting a dual core 4g phone such as the Atrix??????

verizon is supposed to be announcing the Droid X2 which is going to have a dual core processor and a 950x540 qHD screen but no 4G, other than that I wouldn't expect another dual core phone till late June or late July

WOuld you recommend I go for the X2 with the dual core, or the Thunderbolt with the 4g speeds?

without a doubt the Thunderbolt (or even the Charge, for longer battery life) I will never buy a Motorola phone again, considering the problems I've had with my DX. HTC's phones have reliability and fast updates along with fast RAM and processors.

Or just wait till something that has everything you want comes out.... You don't have to buy the newest phone every time regardless of whether it meets your needs or desires.

If you can wait, I'd recommend seeing the what and when of Verizon's 4G phones when they come out. It'll be later this year (Q3 or 4 most likely) but since they have the best 4G service it should be worth the wait.

Hey bro i used to own the DX it was a great phone i then got the TB and immediatly changed it in for the charge and honestly..i couldnt be happier...no its not dual core and no it doesnt amaze on quadrent, linpack or nenamark scores but its better than the TB..yes the TB has a great processor and better ram but your phone/battery will get hot within minutes..it will die within a couple hours...and youll be on 3G most of your time just to conserve battery life...not with the charge! Spend hours on 4G with hardly any battery kill, stay on the phone for hours with no problems and enjoy the beauty of a SUPER AMOLED+ SCREEN..not to mention word is going around that they are coming out with a 2500 or 2600 mAh battery for the charge...imagine the time u can spend on that beast..so make your choice wisely..dnt just pay attention to the processors and cores look at the phone in full..but if u really REALLY want a dual core i hear the SGS2 is coming soon BUT they are not certain if it will have 4G..

I find that situation interesting. I've had Motorola since the bag phone days with NO problems and a great radio. I had the HTC 6900 which didn't have anywhere the RADIO of any Motorola. Reliability has not been an issue for me, but with the exception of my StarTAC which bounced off many concrete floors, have taken good care of them.

If I searched for your posts here, will your DX troubles show for me to know what to NOT :mad:look forward to?

I would vote for the X2, but on the other hand the TB has been stabily OC'ed at 2g

just saying single sporting some speed

My DX restarts almost daily. The lock screen lag really sucks. I'm going to wait for the 2.3 and see if that fixes those issues. The speaker phone on the DX also sucks, but since I purchased a new VW with BT car phone, it's not an issue 90% of the time. I want Dual Core so I can game on the big screen with an HDMI out. DX can do that, but the screen is blank, need dual. I travel a lot, so that is important to me, games, movies both on the big screen.

There's no lock screen lag on Gingerbread. It's very smooth and takes you to the home screen almost instantly. I've stopped using Widget Locker because it's such an improvement.

I would be satisfied with the specs on the DX if it wasn't such a crappily built phone. It's so buggy and lags in so many different apps and the hardware problems. Ugh. I'm regretting going the whole contract route. I think next time I purchase a phone I'm going to preclude the contract and buy used. This experience has been pretty poor for both my wife and myself. x(

I went to the Verizon store today with thoughts of retiring my DX and getting a Thunderbolt or Charge--left without either. Wasn't impressed with the spped of either unit--laggy screens, jerky motion--didn't seem as fast as my X. Waiting for the dual cores to see whats up with them.

Wow I had a Eris and DINC and the build quality on both was inferior (especially the DINC) to the X. You should have seen the DINC forum burning up with complaints....

I'm waiting for the SGS2 unless a surprise phone appears before the SGS2 hits Verizon. SGS2 is likely to be the best phone of the year..... anywhere.

BTW, the DX is an awesome phone overall. I don't ROM, so the locked BL isn't a huge issue. Rooted, running ADW ex with widgetlocker and it's MUCH better than stock blur. I OC and undervolt. The LCD is nice a bright - IMHO, it blows away the dimmish display of the TBOLT. If the Charge was dual core, I would probably spring for that with my current available upgrade, but it's basically a fascinate in a bigger body with 4G. Not enough upgrade for me at this time.
