What are the differences and is it worth the bother to re-flash to 2.1v3 leak from 2.1v2 leak? (since it appears that none of us leakers are going to get the OTA)

BTW there have been tweets from the official verizonsupport that leakers will get an updated version of the OTA as well as everyone else. Something about different versions of HBOOT. But definitely read thru some of the above mention post. Lots of info in there about what has changed from v2 to v3.

Interesting, I hand't read about this particular HBOOT news. Any details you can point me to?

I wonder if the update for us leakers will change the hboot back to match the ota? That would be sweet, as I'm fairly sure that would allow us to root. i imagine that it would probably change the ota hboot though, thus not allowing anyone to root, for now atleast.

Hmm, doesn't seem to be much difference so I guess I'll stick with 2.1v2 for now and not add another layer of potential headaches. I am looking at the upgrade zip of the OTA and see that there are a lot of.apk 's there - anybody know if any of these are worth unzipping and installing or if it can even be done ? The thing I have is update.zip , think I downloaded it from vzw

I can't for the life of me understand why people do not update to leak v3 if they already have v2 or v3. Many annoying problems were solved with v3. I guess to each his own.

I have had no problems at all w/ v 3, minus the time w/o signal bug. Everything is exactly the same (besides hboot) as my wife's phone (ota) including the signal bug. There really is no difference between the 2. I'm gonna try to talk her into letting me root her phone tonight so I can play around with it. If I like it I'll just reset mine and trade her.
