    Hello all,

I have registered to post my questions here because it appears that the most knowledgeable android powerusers all hang out here. First post, so please bare with me :)

My main problem is that I just can not figure out how to edit a search phrase I already typed in.

Say I wanted to find Llanfairpwllgwyngyll on googlemaps, but the search term "Llanfairpwllgwyngyll" is inadaquate, so I need to augment it to "Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch+wales".
The only way I can do this is by typing in "Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch" and wales from scratch again. I have the same issue in google search and gmail search as well, on my nexus one with gingerbread.

    Please advise.

    Plan A

Are you signed in, with your Google mail address, on the Google Search page on your phone:-

and have "Save Recent Searches" enabled in the Settings shown on that page.

and, when using your PC, have you got the Google toolbar installed and signed in to your Google account:-

    Google Toolbar

    Plan B

Stick in the postcode instead... LL61 (for Google Maps)

    Plan C

Insall and use Google "Voice Search" (if you can pronounce the name that you want), free, from the Market.

For more history on this place name...

Llanfairpwllgwyngyll - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

For those of you wishing to pronounce this place name... first manufacture a pint of phlegm in your throat. :D

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for the hint, now there is something wrong with my phlegm as Voice Search just would not want to understand it . :)

Your other suggestion of saving google searches also works well when I retrieve my searches on a PC. But what I am trying to achieve is to edit the search term on my android phone without retyping it. And not just on google search but also gmail and map.

I take it that this is not possible :( . I guess these are exactly those type of tiny usability issues that make an iphone so distinctively more advanced. You would never think of that just comparing the specs sheets...

Copy it, and paste it back in to allow editing?

Ryan, yes, thanks that works when I have the forethought of copying the searchphrase to the clipboard BEFORE I click search. But unfortunately it is usually after the search that I realize that the search phrase was inadequate. What I am after is a way to copy the phrase on the previous searches list and that does not seem to be possible.
