Root Directions

You can use this to root the phone
[App] [26.04.2011][v1.2] GingerBreak APK (root for GingerBread) - xda-developers
Download v1.2 from the above link (copy to sd card or download with phone)
If you don't have a file explorer, get one from the Play Store/Market
Go to settings>Applications>Check unknown resources
Go to settings>Applications>Development>Android debugging checked
Open file explorer, browse to wherever you put gingerbreak
If downloaded by the phone it will be in Download>gingerbreak.apk
Select it.
After it is installed, open app> select root

If device reboots, you should be rooted and you should see the superuser app.
If it doesn't after 7 minutes, reboot the device yourself and try again. Keep trying until you see superuser in the app drawer.

Thanks Sammyz for the rooting instructions, seems straightforward.

Now which one should I follow to install a new ROM?
To install a new ROM, go to market/google play,
search superuser it will say update so update it
then open the app>swipe to "info">press "tap to check for updates" underneath "su binary">hit "update">a prompt will show, press yes>when finished it will say "that was cool do it again?" select that and then one more time (this is just in case it didn't update properly the first 2 times)

google flash image gui with phone or with computer, download it (move to SD card). Install it the same way you installed gingerbreak (you must be rooted first)
