Hey all. I would like to not have to buy a data plan for my phone, so is there any way to disable all data connections besides when connected to Wifi? any help is appreciated.

Install APNdroid from the market. It doesn't exactly disable it, it just changes the data settings to ones which don't work (and can change it back if you want to use data for a while). I have it for a few weeks now on a Samsung Galaxy Spica, works perfectly

Toggle Data Widget v2.0 Application for Android | Tools

A widget to toggle 3G/EDGE/GPRS services. Changes the type of access points to prevent the phone from connecting. To manually enable connection clear APN type for all access points.

You need a separate MMS access point to leave MMS enabled!

I am trying this out today. The main reason for me is battery life. Even with data sync/background data disabled I noticed the phone transmits data all the time. And the only widget I have is calendar. So hopefully this saves my battery.
