Can someone please tell me where/how I install arabic font on my Htc desire?

After doing a moderate amount of research I'm guessing I'm going to need to download a rom. I'm still confused on how to do these things, so an explanation would be appreciated. Also, do I need to root to install the rom?

By the way I found this link but not sure if it works for Desire?

well... u do need to root ur device if u want to install a custom ROM.
If u have already updated ur device to 2.2, as far as I know, there's currently no way to root ur device. However, if u r still on android 2.1 u can root ur device. u can go and read in the Desire root section on guides on how to root ur device.
Android 2.2 natively "partially" supports arabic font, however it shows disconnected letters. There're apps that can help u get more arabic support even on 2.1 without root that can help u read and write arabic texts and contacts and brows the internet.

    I hope this helps
