Displaying your desire screen on an external monitor?

Hi Androidy peeps!

I've been looking around for ways to display my HTC Desire on an external screen, but only found the HTC tv out cable, and I don't think it works for the desire.

Are there any applications to let you view it on a pc screen? Maybe some sort of screen capturing app?

Nice, I was thinking about this too.. Perhaps somehow you could port the screen onto a larger touchscreen monitor and use in the car as a infotainment / ipad-type device..

I think something like that would take a fair bit of hacking to accomplish. Would be cool as hell, though.

If you can settle for presentation, PicMe can show your screen in a browser. Best I can say.

If that works, then it will be the best solution you can get easily..

Interaction not needed, just presentation. Preferably with enough of a framerate to run video externally.
Was trying to hold off on Rooting my device until after 2.2 was out, but seems im running out of options

you can get composite out and component out cables for the iPhone that can be used to display the phones content on your tv,

You would have thought it was possible on the desire as well with the right cable.

Um ... last I tried PicMe, on my then-almost-stock Galaxy running v1.5, I got a frame rate of about 0.2 FPS. Consider it a continually updated series of screen shots -- but not a live stream. I don't believe any 3rd-party app can do that; you'd need some of the no-doubt custom, in-house stuff they use for CES and similar tech shows.
