I picked this up from a local Macintosh forum, I just made some modifications to the original design.

just open 'er up and print on A4 paper preferably more than 270 gsm
Refined the design of the DIY dock to better accommodate the "Chin" of the hero, used 280 gsm paper and added additional support to better hold the hero up.
Showing the additional supports I made with more paper and paper clips, since the hero uses a mini USB plug that isn't as flexible as those found on the iPod the loss of the gap isn't that big of an issue, I just mount the hero sideways when charging.
Here it is with the Hero on
P.S. That's only an iPod Touch in the Background
so far it's holding up good, I wish I could find thicker paper though.
