Help Do I have a bad battery, or faulty OG Evo?

I've seen no other OG evo posts yet that address my specific problem so I wanted to ask here. Heres my issue just recently like 4 days ago my phone's battery started acting erratic & on occasion would power cycle BAD. Both the battery widget I use & htc's native app both would report anywhere in a range of 20-35% and the screen will randomly black out go completely dead. I plug it in and the led stats flashing orange (completely dead) how the hell do I go from 35% to completely dead needs to be plugged in for a hour just to turn back on? Other times I can have it plugged into the wall charger 75%, 15mins later 70%, half hour 55% the battery reverse charges when plugged in. The only time it does seem to charge is if I leave it completely alone absolutely no use for about 8hrs. If 8hrs for a complete charge wasn't bad enough after the led goes green & I unplug the phone it goes into a rapid power freefall no kidding I unplugged it 100% I don't touch the phone at all leave it on the table as I get ready for work pick it up check the htc battery use heres what I read: "15mins 59sec on battery" 67% charge!!!! Wtf!!??!?!? Only thing running,"display (set to 30%) dialer, & cell stand-by" I'm thinking maybe my battery has dead cells so it doesn't charge correctly or report current charge because while I am a VERY heavy user (8gb in 2weeks) I don't think I should be losing charge plugged in or 33% in 15min.

It is quite possible your battery is failing. How old is the battery? Have you tried a different wall charger?

Batteries are relatively cheap for the Evo these days and you can find a great deal on one on Amazon:)

Well this is the original battery that came with the phone when I bought it november 2010 and this problem just started to occur. I've tried several different chargers some charge better than my original one but the problem remains the battery just dies like it was engineered to do that. I want a extended life battery but $80 for a 3500mAh is crazy and $9 for a stock 1500 sounds too low, is that normal?

If your battery is that old, you are on borrowed time. I'm surprised it hasn't pooped out sooner:p

9 bucks for a standard battery? Sound about right at some places. Just be sure to get the HTC brand o.e. battery or an Anker brand.
I bought the Anker 1700 mah battery off of Amazon about 9 months ago.
As far as 80 bucks for a 3500 mah battery? I don't know, never looked into it but I know that will add bulk to the phone.

Let me find that link to the battery I bought..stand by:)

Edit: found it: http://www.amazon.com/Anker®-1700mAh-Li-ion-Battery-Incredible/dp/B005HBA74G

If you scroll down a little more on that page, there are other package deals for the battery. Like a wall charger for it, or 2 batteries and a charger etc.
